De siste 13 årene har EFSUMB (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) produsert en rekke guidelines og kliniske anbefalinger innen ultralyd applikasjoner. Alle disse guidelines er tilgjengelige for nedlasting på EFSUMB sine web-sider (www.efsumb.org):

• Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) (5 stk.)

• dynamic contrast enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) for ­quantification of tumour perfusion

• elastography (3 stk.)

• interventional ultrasound (6 stk.)

• student education

• pediatric use of CEUS

• gastrointestinal ultrasound (GIUS).

For tiden pågår et intenst arbeid med å utarbeide nye guidelines innen gastrointestinal ultrasound (GIUS). En europeisk ekspertgruppe på over 20 medlemmer planlegger følgende utgivelser i de nærmeste årene, hvorav den første allerede er publisert (Nylund et al.):

– 1. Methodology and examination technique

– 2. IBD

– 3. Inflammatory/Infectious (Non-IBD) diseases

– 4. Perineal and transrectal US

– 5. Michellaneous / Coeliac

– 6. Upper GI pathologies / Functional Disorders

EFSUMB arbeider for å fremme god kvalitet i ultralyd­utdanningen og generering av guidelines er en viktig måte å ­sikre høy faglig standard.
